Our History

Mike Bax first set up the Tudor Consort in the late 1970s, while he was Director of Music at St Mary’s, Nantwich.  Since then the choir has broadened its repertoire from mainly unaccompanied Renaissance pieces to music of all eras and styles.  During the past 40 years it has ventured to many other churches and cathedrals, singing services and concerts in Bath and Tewkesbury Abbeys, and the cathedrals of Edinburgh, Manchester, Derby, Lichfield, Chester and Coventry among others.

The choir has built up an excellent reputation for a high standards of exciting music making.  Past and present members are immensely grateful to all who have contributed to its life and development over the years:
